We are looking for a motivated and passionate doctoral candidate in the area of experimental mechanics and dynamic behavior of materials. The project focuses broadly on investigating the dynamic behavior of multi-functional shape memory alloys, and underlying phase transformations.​

The student will develop Kolsky bar experiments for dynamic loading, and high-speed instrumentation capabilities for in-situ measurement of phase boundary evolution. The experiments will be used to build detailed multi-scale data sets to better understand the multi-physical response of magnetic shape memory alloys under high strain rates and complex stress states.
